I found that this was interesting when I remembered it. Just sit back and think...

In 1994 Stephen King released a mini series called "THE STAND". It was an interesting little series and I watched it. I am a fan of SK and his writing style. Another fun fact is that he is my Aunts neighbor in Maine, yes right the hell nextdoor to her is the King of strange himself, but enough on that.

Now let's recall what happened in "The Stand"...

Strangely it depicts in order
A VIRUS (Could this be the H1N1 or even the variant that we are seeing in the Ukraine?

Next we see that MARTIAL LAW is enacted. Strangely enough we are seeing that this can happen and that steps are being taken regarding this.

The next interesting thing that we see is that there was a NUCLEAR STRIKE IN LAS VEGAS. Now why do I say that this is interesting? Well, there was an article that I ran across last night. It goes something like this.....

FEMA Plans Disaster Drill on Las Vegas Strip

Las Vegas is the designated spot for a mock nuclear explosion planned by the Federal Emergency Management Agency.

FEMA had planned to simulate a nuclear explosion right on the Las Vegas Strip to test for emergency preparedness. But the plan is meeting a lot of opposition from all the key players, including Boyd Gaming, MGM Mirage, the Las Vegas Chamber of Commerce and the LVCVA.

“All of our focus should be on attracting visitors on reasons why they should visit Las Vegas, not inhibitors,” said Vince Alberta with the LVCVA.

LVCVA wrote a letter on behalf of those against the idea saying, “We believe a scenario such as this will generate undue anxiety about visiting or conducting business in Las Vegas.”

Critics say a mock nuclear explosion should happen at a place where the damage would have a greater impact, like the Hoover Dam. But it's a step-by-step process and the first battle won is moving the exercise away from the Strip and over to Sunset Park. But it's not enough. “The biggest request we have is to change the exercise,” said Alberta.

LVCVA says a flood or earthquake drill would be a better alternative over a nuclear blast drill.

FEMA responded by saying, “We will continue to reach out to key stakeholders, including state and local officials, to receive their input as we prepare for and continue to develop this important event.”

The exercise is scheduled for May 17, 2010 and is expected to bring 10,000 people to town.

Now just call me silly if you want, but did SK really know something was planned? Is he a secret Elite? lol

Well glad its vegas. Granted wife wants to go there but so do I for different reasons. I'd love to make it to CES to help my small business and get some better contacts with certain manufactures, and vendors.

The Stand is one of my favorite movies...if you have several hours to kill and havent seen it, watch it. I thought for a while that it is eerily similar to what is currently happening here and what still might happen in the near future. I hope to be out of the lower 48 when the poop hits the fan...still trying to convince the wife that moving to alaska is a good idea.

I thought about that, but it would be in the best interest of canada to offer military support if Russia makes a move. Plus there are lots of troops at wainwright and eilson AFB is there...might be enough of a deterrent. Hate to have to rely on canada for help in anything but..

Freeking hosers... My first reservation about my whole move to alaska endeavor was Russia, but everyone I mentioned it to just scoffed as if the last thing that would ever happen was a Russian invasion. I was really shocked at that..I mean it would give them a foothold in north america where their iranian buddies would love to get a short range nuclear weapon (lord knows bho wouldnt stop them) plus they would love to get their mitts on the oil and other natural resources. I can hope that there will be enough people that are willing to fight for their freedom that will move there as to form a formidable civilian force...well, that and i have a sneaking suspicion that a great many of our active duty military will stand down under bho and join in. But, until i find a job there it is all just a pipe dream...
