France paralysed by a wave of strike action, the boulevards of Paris resembling a debris-strewn battlefield. The Hungarian currency sinks to its lowest level ever against the euro, as the unemployment figure rises. Greek farmers block the road into Bulgaria in protest at low prices for their produce. New figures from the biggest bank in the Baltic show that the three post-Soviet states there face the biggest recessions in Europe.

It's a snapshot of a single day – yesterday – in a Europe sinking into the bleakest of times. But while the outlook may be dark in the big wealthy democracies of western Europe, it is in the young, poor, vulnerable states of central and eastern Europe that the trauma of crash, slump and meltdown looks graver.

It was about time.

I wonder what the governments are going to do. If people get out of control then I guess Martial Law could be possible. It's good to see that people are starting to do something. People are starting to see the corruption.

My guess is that the US is next. I don't know when but I can hope soon enough.

It only takes seeing one other person stand up for there individual rights for that person to feel they should stand up too. Its only a matter of time. ONce this huge bailout fails, people will have to realize how horrid of an idea throwing our money away was. Then people will start to be pissed and want to do something. I dont know if this a good thing or a bad thing. I cant think of any other mainstream revolt that has happened in the US. Im very curious to see how europe and such will handle this.

The last major one was the Civil War. I'd be afraid how one would end up now. Unfortunately I'm too close to the mason dixon line for my comfort.....

What's really sad is that this stuff isn't anywere on Fox News, MSNBC, CBSNEWS, CNN, and USAToday.

Top stories are the ice storm in Kentucky, russian nursing home fire, iraq vote, and the NFL hall of fame.

At least someone is paying attention.

LOL!
Never expect the top story to be "Government is corrupt and self-serving".
Makes for bad feelings among the sheeple...

i still can't believe people don't understand that the "bail out" money comes out of everybodies pockets, it doesn't just get printed.

Iceland showed the way.
The problem with those old Eastern Bloc states starting to crumble is that it makes a reunification with an increasingly communist leaning Russia a real possibility.
Their youth movement is all about a return of the Motherland to greatness and the hammer and sickle is starting to re-appear en masse...

sounds like were next in line for that youth movement. Its this exact situation how most dictators got into power. WHen your hopes, money, and jobs are gone, even the most rediculous promises start to sound like a better option than your current situation. On this note, im going buy another box of .45 bullets.
