That is why there are sites like this.

We are here to try to inform of things going on that the MSMs do not. Such as the protests against the federal reserve. MSMs here didnt cover it at all. A russian paper did though.

Not a chance... There's no way something as large as the internet can possibly be filtered and shut down that far............. Is there?

The government can and will do anything you are willing to let them if you give them the power.

I'm going to offer up something a bit different, and I may be completely wrong here from a technical standpoint, but I am sure if I am, someone will correct me...
I think it would be incredibly easy to regulate the internet actually, especially considering that they are going to have to do a major upgrade to keep from running out of internet sites available anyway correct? I mean, would it really be that hard to slide a few lines of code into the new setup that has a age/content restriction filter already built in?

Well, there already is a rating system in place. You can do content filtering with IE now. As far as restricting it, it would be a colaboration between the government and the ISP's to do the filtering as a mandate. It wouldn't be any trouble for it to happen. There would be a step back in speed and reliability if they were to do full time filtering at the isp level.

Something else to think about is if they require website to carry a rating, then what is the government going to do if the content changes and goes up to a higher rating? Is the FCC going to run this as well? Will a violation in said content cost the website owner? If the website owner doesn't make any money, or very little money, will the close the site and/or fine the ISP? If that's the case, then the content on the internet wil shrink. Can you say loss of jobs and business due to over regulation??

I, for one, don't think that this will come to fruition. It would take every country with established internet to regulate it. But it is possible, and worth reading about. The fact that governments are trying to regulate and censor the internet should be a huge wake up call to everybody.

Actually it IS being done in a semi-clandestine way.
RIAA found that going after college kids and small
fry was a way to get money back, but the publicity
was killer to them.

So instead of spending a lot of money and
resources going after indiv's, they have made
a deal with YOUR ISP ! If they feel they are being
ripped by you and others, they contact the ISP and
THEY come after one in the way of warnings, possible
fines and a shut down of your internet, then go
from there for other assessments if warranted.

After all, if you can't get ON the net, what the
sense of having the net..? The blow it would do
to so many on line stores, sites, etc, would be
immense, but hey play the game or get lost.

Al Gore should of seen this coming when he
invented the thing..

Isn't China already doing this?
